Govt Clarifies: Unpaid Summonses Won’t Affect BUDI95 Subsidy

Malaysia will standardise traffic summons rates and procedures between JPJ and PDRM starting 1 January 2026, introducing the “The Less You Delay, The Less You Pay” principle, which rewards early settlement with lower rates. 

Unpaid Summonses won’t Affect BUDI95 

Recent reports suggested that unpaid summonses could cause Malaysians to lose their BUDI95 fuel subsidy, but Transport Minister Anthony Loke clarified that blacklisting and subsidy eligibility are separate processes with no automatic link. 

Eligibility for BUDI95 depends on citizenship and holding a valid driving licence. Until 30 December, Malaysians can enjoy 50%–70% discounts on existing summonses before new compound rates take effect next year.
