Malaysians were stunned after Melaka’s city council inspected a home following a complaint about cooking smells in Taman Puncak Bertam. MBMB shared photos of the visit, led by councillor Juhari Ahmad Salleh, saying they were responding to a nuisance report. 

Melaka Residents Shocked at Cooking Smell Inspection

Officers advised the homeowner not to cook in large quantities and to ensure any staff involved had received typhoid vaccinations, though they did not confirm whether a home‑based food business was operating. 

The incident sparked backlash online, with many questioning why ordinary cooking triggered enforcement action. Social media users joked that even cooking at home now risks complaints or raids.
