Malaysia celebrated its first gold of the 2025 SEA Games when the men’s five-a-side hockey team crushed Indonesia 7-3 in the final at Bangkok’s RTAF Stadium. Akhimullah Anuar Esook scored a hat-trick, Abid Sufian (2), Luqman Nul Hakim and Shafiq Ikhmal added goals in a dominant display.

The victory marked a perfect debut for the new 5S event. Coach Wan Roslan hailed the World Cup-experienced players for guiding newcomers. Malaysia had stormed to the final with huge wins, including 18-0 over Philippines. The women’s team took silver after falling 1-7 to Thailand.
