Can't implement UEC with political pressure

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir stressed that any proposal to recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) must strictly adhere to the Federal Constitution, Rukun Negara and National Education Philosophy, free from political pressure.

He reaffirmed the Madani government’s unwavering stand that Bahasa Malaysia’s status as the national language and language of knowledge remains non-negotiable across all education streams. In line with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s directive, mastery of Bahasa Malaysia is compulsory even in Chinese, Tamil and international schools to strengthen national unity and identity. The ministry will continue elevating Bahasa Malaysia alongside English and other languages.
