The United Chinese School Committees Association (Dong Zong) has firmly stated it will not beg the government for recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC). President Tan Yew Sing emphasised that UEC exists independently and will not compromise its features for approval.

“Governments may come and go, we do not beg for pity… we will only strive to be stronger,” he said, quoting the I Ching on self-improvement. Tan urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to show “political wisdom and courage” amid claims politicians exploit the issue racially. The statement follows Anwar’s recent emphasis on mastering Bahasa Melayu.
