Kuala Lumpur, December 14 — MCA Youth information chief Neow Choo Seong has urged the Chinese Malaysian community to master Bahasa Malaysia to safeguard their interests amid heightened racial polarisation and backlash over renewed calls for Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) recognition.

He stressed that proficiency in the national language is essential for effective participation in national affairs, clear expression of views, and robust defence of community rights. Neow highlighted how language barriers have fuelled misunderstandings, undermining multiculturalism and harmony.
The call comes as DAP pushes for UEC recognition—a Pakatan Harapan manifesto pledge—to rebuild support after its Sabah election wipeout, facing strong opposition from quarters like Umno.
