Petaling Jaya, December 15 — Analysts warn that Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s accusation of theft against Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will severely complicate any future political cooperation between the two former prime ministers.
Analysts say the allegation reveals Mahathir’s difficulty collaborating with Muhyiddin, potentially alienating Perikatan Nasional supporters and young voters who view it as outdated smear tactics rather than genuine integrity concerns. They doubted anyone else could partner with Mahathir in his Malay political agenda if the issue persists.
Theft Accusation
Muhyiddin denied the viral video claims, stating party funds were properly accounted for and Mahathir never raised the issue previously. He has no plans to sue, though PKR Youth chief Kamil Munim urged a police report over the serious breach-of-trust implication.
