Shah Alam, December 15 — The Chinese character “shui” (税), meaning tax, has been voted Malaysia’s Character of the Year 2025, highlighting widespread concerns over tax policies impacting daily life.
Han Culture Centre Malaysia president Datuk Goh Hin San announced the result on December 14, noting “shui” garnered 29.69 per cent of votes. It reflects issues like delayed refunds, efficient collection, and Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue claim under MA63.
