Former Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is set to receive the title of ‘Doctor’ after successfully completing his PhD viva in Political Science at Universiti Utara Malaysia, requiring only minor corrections.

His thesis focuses on Malaysia’s crisis management and health security strategy during the COVID‑19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022. The viva session was chaired by UUM academics, with final approval pending in the University Senate.
Ismail Sabri, who began his PhD in November 2023, expressed gratitude to examiners, family and supporters. Throughout his political career, he has held multiple ministerial roles, including Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
