Former senior political secretary to the prime minister, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, has been removed as the Melaka PKR State Leadership Council (MPN) chairperson. His position will now be taken over by his deputy, Adam Adli Abd Halim, who also serves as the deputy youth and sports minister. 

Shamsul Iskandar Removed as Chief

The decision, effective yesterday, was announced by PKR secretary‑general Fuziah Salleh shortly after Shamsul was charged in court with four counts of receiving RM176,830 in bribes. Fuziah confirmed that Shamsul remains the Hang Tuah Jaya division chief. Shamsul pleaded not guilty, while businessman Albert Tei was accused of offering the bribes.
