Enforcement officers from the Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) detained a man in his 60s and a woman in her 20s for alleged khalwat during a late‑night operation in Johor Bahru.

Acting on a public tip-off, officers arrived at a double‑storey house at 2:15 AM and, after repeated knocking, were met by the elderly man. Inside, they found the young woman lying on the couch.
The man, a single grandfather, claimed she was caring for him due to his health issues, including fainting spells and vision problems. He admitted they planned to marry but feared public judgment over their significant age gap.
