Mbappe Brace Takes Real Madrid to Copa Last 16, Now Nears Ronaldo Record

Alavera de la Reina: Kylian Mbappe edged closer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s calendar-year scoring record for Real Madrid, netting a brace in a hard-fought 3-2 Copa del Rey victory over third-tier Talavera de la Reina.

The French star’s goals, plus an own-goal, secured progress to the last 16 despite late replies from Nahuel Arroyo and Gonzalo Di Renzo.

Mbappe now has 58 goals in 2025, one short of Ronaldo’s 59 from 2013, with Saturday’s LaLiga clash against Sevilla offering the chance to break it.
