A Malaysian road user recently sparked online discussion after noticing that several toll plaza barriers labelled as 2.1 metres appeared to be different heights. His Facebook post, shared in a local car group, included photos showing one lane’s barrier visibly taller than another despite identical height markings.

Malaysians quickly chimed in with jokes and theories, from claims of “sea level vs road level measurements” to suggestions that different vendors supplied the barriers. Others pointed out that toll plazas previously used chain barriers, but due to lorry drivers entering sedan lanes for cheaper rates, sturdier barriers were introduced — leading to today’s inconsistencies.
