In September 2025, a traveler paid $180 (RM734) to ride business class on Amtrak’s new NextGen Acela from New York City to Washington, DC. The three‑hour journey offered modern perks: ergonomic seating, spacious bathrooms, and 5G WiFi strong enough to stream videos.

Despite the sleek interiors and comfort upgrades, the experience lacked extras like priority boarding or lounge access. With coach tickets on regional trains priced at just $40, the premium felt steep. While the ride was the best business‑class experience the traveler had in the US, they concluded the high cost outweighed the benefits and wouldn’t splurge again.
