BANGKOK, 19 December 2025 – Malaysia has successfully surpassed its 200-medal target at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, collecting 204 medals (46 gold, 49 silver, 109 bronze) as of the ninth day, placing fifth overall. This marks a significant improvement from the 34 golds won at the 2023 Cambodia Games.
200-Medal Target
Encouraged by the strong performance, the National Sports Council (MSN) has set a new target: adding more golds to overtake fourth-placed Singapore (48 golds). Opportunities abound, with track cycling offering two golds tomorrow, potential clean sweeps in indoor and field hockey finals, and all-Malaysian squash individual finals guaranteeing two more golds.
Thursday proved golden, highlighted by archery’s men’s compound team defeating hosts Thailand 232-228. Track cycling delivered three golds via Muhammad Ridwan Sahron (men’s keirin), Nur Aisyah Mohamad Zubir (women’s scratch), and the men’s team pursuit. Kabaddi men’s team made history with Malaysia’s first SEA Games gold in the sport, beating Thailand.
The Games conclude Saturday.
