KUALA LUMPUR, 20 December 2025 – Naim Kurniawan, son of the late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, has been announced as Barisan Nasional’s (BN) candidate for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election. BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed the choice at a dinner event tonight, with Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan highlighting Naim’s strong local acceptance.

Naim expressed gratitude for the trust, acknowledging the vast constituency’s challenges but pledging to safeguard voters’ interests. He noted enthusiastic support from Umno leaders and grassroots.
The seat fell vacant after Bung Moktar’s death on December 5. Polling is scheduled for January 24, with nomination on January 10 and early voting on January 20.
