New: Crowds gather at Angullia Mosque awaiting body of assassinated Bangladeshi leader

On Dec 19 morning, hundreds from Singapore’s Bangladeshi community congregated outside Angullia Mosque in Farrer Park, awaiting the body of pro-democracy leader Sharif Osman Hadi. The potential election candidate died at Singapore General Hospital on Dec 18 from injuries sustained in a Dec 12 assassination attempt in Bangladesh, where he was shot in the head.

Videos on TikTok showed crowds along Roberts Lane with raised voices but no rowdiness. Police deployed officers and vehicles for safety, confirming the peaceful dispersal by 11am. No injuries or law and order issues were reported.
