Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme on 23 July, allowing eligible Malaysians to buy RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre.

BUDI95 Saves RM800 Million Monthly

Implemented in late September, the scheme uses MyKad verification and applies to citizens aged 16 and above with a valid driving licence, capped at 300 litres monthly.

Anwar said the initiative saves the government RM800 million each month by targeting subsidies more effectively, curbing leakages from foreign nationals and fuel smuggling. He stressed that the savings are channelled back to the people through STR and SARA, and invested in healthcare, roads, and infrastructure.
