Yurina Noguchi, a 32‑year‑old woman from Japan, recently held a symbolic wedding ceremony with Lune Klaus Verdure, an AI character she created based on a video game persona. Noguchi wore a pink gown and viewed her “husband” through augmented‑reality glasses, exchanging vows and rings while holding a smartphone displaying his image.

Their relationship began when she sought advice from ChatGPT about a troubled engagement, later customizing the AI to mimic Klaus’s personality and speech. The pair exchanged up to 100 messages daily, and Noguchi even commissioned an artist to illustrate him. The marriage, however, is not legally recognized in Japan.
