More white‑collar workers are spending part of their weekends working, not because of crushing workloads but to gain flexibility during the week. A recent analysis found about 5% of employees now log hours on off days, up 9% from 2023 to 2024.

Many say they enjoy their jobs and view weekend work as a way to ease Monday stress. But experts warn the habit can backfire, making workers more available for extra tasks and fueling burnout.

As one manager once advised: “Slow down. They’ll always find new work for you.” The balance between productivity and rest remains delicate.
