The Shah Alam High Court today dismissed an appeal by Ismanira Abdul Manaf, mother of murdered autistic boy Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin, to defer her five-year prison sentence for child neglect. Judge Datuk Aslam Zainuddin ruled there were no special circumstances justifying a stay, after reviewing submissions from both sides.
Mother going to jail
Ismanira, 30, is currently serving her term at Kajang Prison. She was convicted on October 31 for neglecting Zayn Rayyan in a way likely to cause physical injury between December 5 and 6, 2023, at their Damansara Damai apartment and nearby areas. The child was found dead near a river. Her husband and in-laws attended the hearing.
