Suspect To Be Charged Over Fatal Penang House Fire

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 24 — A man in his 20s detained over the deaths of his mother and adopted sister in a December 10 fire at a rented house in Taman Rathna, Penang, will soon face charges.

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed investigation papers, conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, have been submitted to the State Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The suspect, the victims’ son and brother, was remanded until December 25. The fire killed a woman in her 50s and a five-year-old girl, while he sustained injuries from the collapsing kitchen roof.

The Fire and Rescue Department will submit its full report to police soon.
