In the 1MDB-Tanore trial verdict today, High Court Judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah dismissed Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s defence that US$620 million in his accounts were genuine Saudi royal donations. The judge found no credible evidence linking the funds to King Abdullah or the Saudi family, concluding the donation letters were forgeries and the money originated from 1MDB.

Sequerah described the “Arab donation narrative” as without merit, echoing findings in Najib’s SRC International case where a similar defence failed. Najib claimed the funds stemmed from a 2010 private meeting with the late king for political support ahead of the 2013 elections.
