PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said issues involving several projects in Perlis were among the reasons behind the political crisis that led to the resignation of Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

He claimed many major projects in the state did not follow regulations and were linked to corruption. The turmoil escalated after eight assemblymen — three from PAS and five from Bersatu — withdrew their support for Shukri through statutory declarations.
PAS later announced the immediate termination of membership for three of its assemblymen, prompting the speaker to declare unexpected vacancies. Hadi insisted Shukri was “oppressed,” not oppressive, in his leadership.
