The carcass was later disposed of by Kemaman district Perhilitan officers. Authorities urged motorists to be cautious in wildlife crossing areas. With fewer than 2,500 Malayan tapirs left in the wild, the endangered species continues to face threats from habitat loss, urban development, and road accidents.
