KUALA LUMPUR: PAS has urged Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) to hold preliminary discussions to revive Muafakat Nasional (MN). Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said major issues, particularly the rejection of the Royal Addendum, demand unity among Malay parties to defend the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s privileges. He stressed that PAS, in line with President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang’s stance, consistently pushes for expedited ummah unity, especially among Malay political parties.
Revive Muafakat
Tuan Ibrahim called on PN and BN to act swiftly and suggested UMNO withdraw from the Unity Government. Sources indicate an informal meeting involving top leaders from UMNO, BERSATU and PAS occurred weeks ago, reportedly discussing MN’s revival. Former UMNO leader and current PAS central committee member Datuk Seri Shahidan Kasim also hinted at a national consensus as the best solution to current issues. (128 words)
