The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) will meet with a local man who attended an international event dressed as a woman, following a viral 27‑second video of the incident.
JAWI to Meet Up Man Cross-Dressing
JAWI director Hanifuddin Roslan confirmed the meeting is part of further investigation. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Dr Zulkifli Hasan, said JAWI was instructed to act under existing laws after the man’s actions drew negative public reactions and were seen as challenging religious sensitivities.
JAWI has also been directed to work with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to remove related content from social media.
