Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has appealed the Kuala Lumpur High Court’s December 22 decision rejecting his bid to serve the remaining six-year jail term under house arrest. Lawyer Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee confirmed the appeal was filed on December 24. The court ruled that the purported addendum from the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong was invalid, as it was not issued during a Pardons Board meeting and violated constitutional procedures.
Najib Appeals
Najib, incarcerated at Kajang Prison since August 2022 for misappropriating RM42 million from SRC International, faces completion of his sentence between 2028 and 2029, potentially earlier with good behaviour remission.
