Holidaymakers returning to Kuala Lumpur after the Christmas long weekend faced severe traffic gridlock on the North-South Expressway yesterday. One driver, Haasharii, claimed it took him a staggering 21 hours to travel from Kuala Perlis, leaving at 2pm and arriving only at 11am the next day.

He blamed frequent stops at R&R areas due to leg cramps from driving a manual car in heavy jams. Others shared similar ordeals, with Ieda Jaffar reporting a six-hour crawl from Pagoh, Johor – more than double the usual two-and-a-half hours. Social media was flooded with complaints about the unusually slow crawl home. – Photo for illustration only!
