Winter storms wreaked havoc on US holiday travel over the post‑Christmas weekend, causing more than 11,000 flight delays and 1,000 cancellations on Saturday, followed by 10,400 delays and 800 cancellations on Sunday, according to FlightAware. By Monday morning, nearly 900 flights were delayed and 300 canceled.

Winter Storms Causing 20k Flight Delays

Minneapolis‑Saint Paul and Atlanta’s Hartsfield‑Jackson airports saw the highest disruptions. The National Weather Service warned of blizzard conditions and dangerous wind chills across the Midwest as the storm deepened into southeastern Canada. New York City recorded its heaviest snowfall since January 2022, with over four inches blanketing Central Park. Travel chaos continues amid peak demand.
