The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) is reviewing the feasibility of pet-friendly shopping malls, balancing public interest with multi-racial harmony. Following concerns raised by Penang Amanah over Muslim sensitivities towards dogs, Mayor Datuk A. Rajendran visited Gurney Paragon Mall today.

Pet-Friendly

The mall allows pets under 15kg in strollers or carriers only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with strict house rules including designated lifts and proper waste disposal. MBPP suggested clearer signage and tighter enforcement. Currently, no specific regulations exist, and mall management bears responsibility for compliance to maintain order and cleanliness.
