KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh urged a special convention to resolve that UMNO withdraw from the Unity Government to preserve party dignity. Speaking at the UMNO Youth Special Convention in WTCKL on Saturday, he stressed the decision must be collective, representing grassroots voices, to defend Malay and Islamic interests.

“I want this to be the grassroots’ voice. Do we stay in a government failing to respect Islam, Malay Rulers, and national dignity? If dignity is the price, better to oppose with honour than govern without self-respect,” he said. Akmal claimed red lines set earlier have been repeatedly crossed despite UMNO’s ample patience over three years.
