KUALA LUMPUR: Independent preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin has resigned from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to “reduce enemies” in his preaching work. The news was first shared on X yesterday by former PKR Petra Jaya branch chief Iswardy Morni.

Wan Ji confirmed he submitted his resignation on January 1, explaining that membership in PKR caused many non-party individuals to avoid associating with him. “When I was in PKR, many from outside the party didn’t want to be friends with me,” he said. Wan Ji joined PKR in 2015 and once served as an aide to former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. In 2018, he was sentenced to nine months’ jail for sedition against the Sultan of Selangor.
