A tragic accident occurred in Penang on Sunday night (4 January) when a 67‑year‑old woman was fatally struck by a car while crossing the road at about 11:40 PM.
Elderly Woman Killed in Road Accident
The driver, a 51‑year‑old foreign man reportedly of French nationality, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. Passersby attempted CPR, but paramedics confirmed the victim had died at the scene. Her body was sent to Penang Hospital for autopsy.
Police later confirmed the driver failed an alcohol test and has been remanded for investigation under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
