The Venezuelan leader calmly declared he was “kidnapped” by US forces on January 3 from his Caracas home. Judge Alvin Hellerstein, 92, postponed political statements.

Maduro maintained composure, taking notes and greeting supporters, even responding to a heckler’s outburst by calling himself a “prisoner of war.” The hearing occurred in the same courtroom as Sean Combs’ recent trial. Both defendants were remanded to jail following the surprise US operation.
