A Malaysian man, Pak Meon, nearly paid RM1,469 for a few hours of parking in Kota Kinabalu after a system glitch. He shared his experience on Facebook, warning the public to always check payment terminals before tapping cards. 

Kota Kinabalu Man Charged RM1.5k for Parking

Initially, the machine displayed RM5, but the amount suddenly jumped to RM1,469. Shocked, he reversed his car and tried another exit, which failed to scan his plate. 

After using the intercom, he retried the first terminal, which then correctly showed RM5. He urged Malaysians to verify amounts at parking lots and counters, stressing that even a misplaced zero can be costly.
