PAS election director Sanusi Md Nor claimed that UMNO remains in the unity government because its leaders carry “burdens.” Without naming anyone, he appeared to reference UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who received a discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) in 2023 over 47 graft and money‑laundering charges linked to Yayasan Akalbudi.
Sanusi Hints at Zahid’s DNAA in Criticism of UMNO
Sanusi argued that leaders with unresolved issues weaken decision‑making. Zahid, however, reaffirmed UMNO’s commitment to the unity government until the end of the current parliamentary term, rejecting a revival of Muafakat Nasional. The Attorney General’s Chambers defended Zahid’s DNAA, though critics continue to condemn it as unjust.
