UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh has hinted at stepping down after thanking party president Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for his openness to reviewing political cooperation.

At the UMNO Youth Special Convention, Dr Akmal proposed strengthening Malay unity through closer ties between UMNO and PAS, but Zahid rejected any move to undermine the current government.
In a Facebook post, Dr Akmal said he had done his utmost to represent party members’ concerns, adding, “Perhaps it’s time to step down.” He expressed gratitude to supporters and stressed that the struggle for religion, race, and country would continue beyond his tenure.
