Duyong assemblyman Mohd Noor Helmy has warned against excessive attacks on UMNO Youth Chief Akmal Saleh, particularly on his social media. In a Facebook post, Helmy stressed that Akmal’s controversial proposal for UMNO to leave the Madani government and ally with PAS was made in his capacity as Youth Chief.

UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi rejected the idea, saying the party must avoid repeating past mistakes. Following this, Akmal hinted at stepping down, admitting shortcomings. Helmy defended his longtime friend, reminding critics that both emerged from UMNO Youth, and urged restraint with the hashtags #PemudaBersaudara and #SekaliPemudaSelamanyaPemuda.
