“We expected tough opposition as new pairs bring fresh challenges, especially from China,” said Soh Wooi Yik, emphasising full focus to avoid large point gaps. They await the winner between South Korea’s Kang Min Hyuk-Ki Dong Ju and Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

Compatriots Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun also progressed, crushing Japan’s Hiroki Midorikawa-Kyohei Yamashita 21-9, 21-15. (102 words)
