Singapore’s Parliament will next week debate a motion filed by Leader of the House Indranee Rajah to determine whether Workers’ Party chief Pritam Singh remains suitable to serve as Leader of the Opposition. The motion follows the courts upholding Pritam’s conviction for lying to the Committee of Privileges in the Raeesah Khan case.

Analysts say losing the LO role would be a setback for Pritam, but the greater impact may come from the Workers’ Party’s internal processes. Pritam, appointed first LO after the 2020 GE and reappointed in 2025, will retain his MP seat and WP Secretary-General position regardless of the outcome.
