Petaling Jaya: BERSATU President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin strongly denied allegations that the party betrayed PAS in the Perlis political crisis, which led to the resignation of former Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli from PAS. Speaking after a Majlis Pimpinan Tertinggi (MPT) meeting, Muhyiddin said he received clarification from current Perlis MB Abu Bakar Hamzah, confirming BERSATU’s non-involvement.

He emphasized that the decision by the Raja of Perlis is absolute and must be respected, with no sabotage or betrayal by BERSATU. The crisis erupted when eight ADUNs—three from PAS and five from BERSATU—withdrew support from Mohd Shukri, prompting his resignation citing health reasons. PAS leaders have accused BERSATU of treachery within the Perikatan Nasional coalition.
