1048. Concerns Rise Over MyDigital ID App Functionality

Malaysia will implement MyDigital ID as the sole sign‑on platform for Malaysians using the MyNIISe immigration app starting January 15, 2026. The move aims to streamline cross‑border travel and modernise immigration clearance.

MyDigital ID for Immigration

MyDigital ID, developed by Mimos Berhad, verifies identities securely via the National Registration Department database without storing biometric data. MyNIISe generates QR codes for faster, paperless immigration clearance, replacing older systems criticised for congestion.

Foreign travellers will continue using existing login methods, while Malaysians aged 18 and above are encouraged to register. The initiative is part of wider government efforts to embed MyDigital ID across high‑traffic services.
