The owner of a Singapore-registered silver Volkswagen Jetta will be charged tomorrow at Kulai Magistrate’s Court for allegedly using subsidised RON95 fuel after obscuring his vehicle’s registration number. Kulai district police chief ACP Tan Seng Lee confirmed the 63-year-old man, a Singapore permanent resident, will face charges under Section 108(3)(e) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which prohibits operating a vehicle with an altered, covered, or obscured number plate.

The case surfaced after a 1-minute-30-second viral video showed the vehicle refuelling at a Kulai petrol station. Police received a public report on January 4 and launched an investigation following the social media footage.
