Residents in Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima province were confronted with scenes of devastation after a crane collapsed onto a passenger train on Jan 14, causing one of the country’s worst rail accidents in decades. The crane, part of a high-speed rail construction project, fell onto the moving train, derailing several carriages. Thirty-two people died and sixty-four were injured, with residents and rescue teams helping pull victims from the wreckage.

Nearly 200 passengers were on board the service from Bangkok. Witnesses described bodies trapped amid twisted metal and cries for help from inside the wreckage. Locals and workers rushed to the scene to assist rescue efforts, pulling injured passengers from damaged carriages while emergency services were deployed to manage the aftermath.
