Terengganu UMNO strongly opposes reviving the Muafakat Nasional (MN) pact with PAS, declaring the party is “2,000 times” more disappointed with PAS than with DAP. During the UMNO General Assembly 2025 debate, delegate Nurhisam Johari highlighted bitter experiences during MN 1.0 after the 2018 election, when Terengganu UMNO was sidelined, excluded from consultations.

Umno was also subjected to insults like “hypocrites,” “disbelievers,” and comparisons to animals by PAS leaders. He stressed that any revival requires genuine proof of change and sincere forgiveness, not mere rhetoric, given decades of fierce rivalry between the two Malay-Muslim parties in the state.
