PETALING JAYA – UMNO Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh has fired back at MCA vice-president Tan Teik Cheng, challenging him to advocate for MCA’s departure from Barisan Nasional (BN) or quit the party himself. This follows Tan’s claim that BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is the coalition’s “greatest liability” after Zahid retracted comments about a “Team B” in DAP.

In a Facebook post, Akmal mocked Tan’s electoral losses, calling him “all talk” and a real liability, while urging MCA president Wee Ka Siong to “give him a mirror.” Zahid had withdrawn his remarks to avoid offending DAP, denying any intent to imply factions.Both MCA and MIC have considered leaving BN, feeling sidelined in the unity government.
