Yesterday we reported about a car with a couple that caught fire at a toll booth. The story does not end there with the parents of the 19-year-old Chen Huishan (transliteration) revealing that they opposed the relationship and did not want her to go on the trip to Perlis from Penang. Twenty-one-year-old Feng Shengqin (transliteration) ran a fruit business in Perlis with his father and brother. Chen worked at a clothing store in Queensbay Mall.

Chen’s father told Sin Chew that she had taken a day off on Monday to go to Perlis with her boyfriend and that her mother advised her not to go on the trip. She texted her dad to seek permission and he okeyed it, not wanting to upset his daughter. The couple dated for about half a year. Firefighters who responded found a Honda Civic FD engulfed in flames near the Jitra Toll Plaza, with about 85 per cent of the vehicle destroyed. Tragic Penang Perlis trip…
