Ahead of the BN Supreme Council meeting, sources claim Perikatan Nasional (PN) has approved MIC’s application to join the coalition, marking a major shift in Malaysia’s political landscape.
PN Approves MIC?
The decision was reportedly made at PN’s leadership meeting on December 9, with chairman Muhyiddin Yassin stressing MIC’s role in attracting non‑Malay voters, especially the Indian community. However, the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP), a new PN member, opposed the move, citing MIC’s continued BN membership.
MIC denies submitting a formal application, saying its letter sought clarification on PN’s commitments to Indian socio‑economic and political issues. PN also deferred applications from Pejuang and Putra.
