Barisan Nasional (BN) claimed convincing wins in the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections on Saturday, January 24, 2026, according to unofficial results. BN’s Mohd Naim Kurniawan Moktar swept the Kinabatangan seat with a massive 12,777-vote majority, trouncing Warisan’s Saddi Abdul Rahman (1,523 votes) and independent Goldam Hamid (349 votes) in a constituency of 48,526 voters.

In Lamag, BN candidate Mohd Ismail Ayob @ Miha edged out Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malik Chua by 538 votes in a straight contest involving 13,703 voters. Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh announced the victories on Facebook, signalling strong support for BN amid Sabah’s shifting political landscape.
